In order for the leasing project to work, they would have to be run as a for-profit organization, so that somebody would want to actually accept the lease, which probably means either curtailing service, increasing prices, or both. Of course, Reno, Sparks, and Washoe County would get a cut of these profits, per the terms of the lease.<BR/><BR/>In short, leasing TMWA out isn't market economics at work - it's government trying to get some additional revenue by disguising it in the form of a "privatization" that really is just asking a company to be willing to be a state-sponsored monopoly in exchange for cutting government in on the take.David Colbornehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00559189787607852538noreply@blogger.com
